Helena Gullstrom

Born in Sunne, Sweden she moved to Los Angeles in 1995, where she still resides. Always knowing she wanted to be an artist, she drew, painted and dreamed. In 2001 this path took her to Otis Parson’s School of Art and Design, where she began to study and develop her art with Franklyn Liegel.

Soon after followed her first exhibition and years of art making and experimenting with different medias. She uses a wide array of materials including concrete, steel, papers, powdered pigments and oil sticks.

Right now she’s working on a series of sculptures for an upcoming outdoor sculpture exhibit this summer in her native Sweden.

“The generous physical layering of paint and combined materials in Helena Gullströms art creates a dreamlike imaginary world. The essence is both romantic and soulful. The work has the flavor of magic and miracles.” - Franklin
