Jeanie Madsen Gallery

Jeanie Madsen

Store Owner / Fashion Designer

Starting off as a stylist in NYC not thinking I could actually be a Fashion Designer , that was for those other people, I knew I was in the right area. But I also was torn between Interior Designing or Fashion Styling.

Part time class's at NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology, I landed costuming and styling jobs in theater, film, print, and movies. Then after taking a part time job at Bloomingdales and being surrounded with Ready to Wear everyday, I saw how much clothes cost and studied the construction, and really thought "I can make this". But it wasn't until losing my mom, my greatest fear, that I actually went for it.

Went downtown LA, bought fabric, made some samples and hit the boutiques. I got my first order from my very first approach. "Thank You Monkie". I cried I thought" I'm home" . Although it was a small order, it was the biggest green light of my life. I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. I was always doing what I was supposed to be doing, but this was the big picture puzzle piece. Having a vision of a store. I drew my vision approximately 20 years ago...

Jeanie Madsen Gallery is not my exact Vision, it's in most ways better than my vision. It's fashion designing, interior designing, merchandising, not just a store but a "museum boutique". Filled with many incredible artists that are like family. We are a community here. And I didn't do it alone.

I'm blessed to have so many people helping me with my dream.
